A few years ago, I joined a 12 step program for what I would imagine is the reason that most people seek recovery. My life had become unmanageable and I was at the very bottom of the dreaded rock.
I was the married mother of three boys and I was drowning. When I first started going to meetings, I noticed a phrase that was often used by people who shared at the podium or from their seats: God Shots.
Apparently, they were everywhere and usually occurred when least expected. God Shots sounded promising, comforting even. They had the power to shift perspective and even give a glimpse into your future. It drew me in and I wanted more. More of what? What is a God Shot?
It took me six months to summon the courage to get a sponsor and well over a year to feel comfortable enough to start on the topic of God Shots. I paused, I listened, I took it all in. I was not disappointed
A God Shot is goodness, pure and simple coming at you. They are events, big and small that happen to us all the time, often when we least expect it. They are moments and experiences packed with awe and wonder. God Shots serve to inspire and sustain us. They carry us through.
